The Bridget Joyce Square (Australia Road) scheme creates an urban public park through the use of traffic restrictions, new surfacing, new elements of green infrastructure and street furniture that forms a valuable community resource whilst helping to reduce the area’s contribution to flooding.
Instead of seeing drainage as a design issue, the scheme elevates SuDS as its main focal point and pushes boundaries in a number of traditional design aspects. The permeable pavement has been design to deliver clean water at depths of 150mm below surface into the receiving basin.
