Flood Risk Assessment (FRA)

Following the publication of Planning Policy Statement 15 (PPS15) in Northern Ireland and draft Planning System & Flood Risk Management – Planning Guidelines in the Republic of Ireland, flood risk assessment is now an integral component of the planning system.

McCloy Consulting have considerable expertise in the field of flood risk, having completed over 150 Flood Risk Assessments, ranging from small private developments to large strategic housing and commercial developments.

We provide clients with expert advice on an appropriate scope and detail of flood risk assessment for any site. Flood risk assessments vary from simple exercises to detailed 1D & 2D hydraulic modelling studies, to determine the risk posed to the development.

We have a detailed knowledge of the planning process and of relevant legislation in the UK and Ireland, and understand the importance of maintaining communication with Rivers Agency (NI) and clients in the course of projects in order to ensure that any assessment meets the requirements of the relevant authority.

In addition to assessments required by the planning process, we provide advice to developers and landowners regarding modifications to existing streams and rivers, and can advise on flood alleviation techniques, proposed culverts and channel modifications, and the statutory requirements of Rivers Agency Schedule 6 consent (NI).
