FRA technical capability

McCloy Consulting have extensive experience of the preparation of flood risk assessments, having completed numerous assessments for varying scales of residential, commercial, educational, and sports and recreational facilities in Northern Ireland and the UK, as demonstrated in our FRA case studies.

We have experience of involvement at various stages of site development, ranging from providing early advice on site appraisal and selection, to provision of a detailed FRA for full planning approval.

We continually invest in our in-house technical experience and capability, allowing us to undertake detailed 1D & 2D hydraulic model builds in order to determine the hydrology and flood characteristics of complex sites, using software packages including Hec-Ras, ISIS 2D, and InfoWorks RS. We also undertake detailed topographical river reach surveys required for model builds.

We use the latest flow estimation techniques to undertake detailed hydrological assessments, using the latest Flood Estimation Handbook (FEH) statistical and rainfall runoff techniques.

A common requirement of flood risk assessment is the assessment of drainage impact; we can provide pre- and post-development runoff assessments, giving further advice on the potential for implementation of SuDS measures to minimise impact.
