SuDS case study
and McCloy Consulting
Based upon their extensive SuDS experience, McCloy
Consulting were commissioned by RES in June 2006,
to deliver a robust and workable SuDS solution, for the management
of construction rainfall runoff at Lough Hill Wind Farm.
The development consists of 7 turbines and 2.5km of access
road. The project presented a number of environmental hazards
including; difficult ground conditions, environmentally sensitive
water bodies close by, not to mention the adverse weather conditions
encountered.
The SuDS solution developed by McCloy Consulting was
one of source control. This was designed to mimic the natural
hydrology of the site, therefore limiting the impact on the
surrounding area. Ongoing communication with the project delivery
team and regular site visits during construction ensured the
successful delivery of the SuDS solution.
